A Listening School
At Southmere Primary Academy we pride ourselves on being a listening school.
We listen to our children, our families, our staff and Governors: everyone who is part of our school community.
Part of our shared vision states that we ensure everyone in our school, feels, warm, welcomed and safe. Feeling safe is vital. We want all our children and staff to feel safe in school, and we listen to what they say to ensure they are. Sometimes children tell us things that we need to act on. Sometimes this means a conversation with a family member, sometimes we need to take this further. School has a responsibility to safeguard all our young people. This means if they tell us something we are concerned about we must make a referral to Social services. They will then investigate this further. Sometimes this means an assessment will be carried out, sometimes they just need to talk to families to make sure they are clear about what is happening. We will always work with families to ensure the best outcomes for the children.
If you have a concern about a child, then please make sure you share it with us so we can work together to make sure that child is safe, happy and cared for. All our staff and Governors have regular Safeguarding Training to ensure they are able to identify potential problems and recognise any signs that there might be something wrong.
